Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our coverage and data

What if my location isn't covered?
We're continuously expanding our coverage areas. Currently, we focus on the contiguous United States (excluding Alaska), Hawaii, Caribbean, Mexico, and major European destinations. If your location isn't covered, we recommend checking nearby cities within our coverage zones, as weather patterns are often similar within a region. You can also contact us to request coverage for specific areas—we prioritize expansion based on user demand.
How accurate is the data?
Our data combines 20 years (1995-2024) of historical observations from NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) weather stations with ERA5 reanalysis data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The majority of our stations globally incorporate observational climate data with bias correction, providing the highest data quality. For locations without observational records, we use ERA5 reanalysis exclusively—a highly reliable global climate model that represents modeled weather patterns validated against worldwide observations.
Are you adding more locations?
Yes! We recently expanded into Europe (December 2025) and continue to add new stations based on user demand. Priority areas for future expansion include additional European countries (Greek islands, Portuguese coastline), coastal Alaska (Juneau, Anchorage for cruise planning), Asia-Pacific destinations (Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia), and South American locations. Check our coverage page regularly for updates.
What's the difference between US and international data quality?
All regions benefit from high-quality historical data, with most international stations matching US standards. Europe leads with 92% of stations incorporating observational climate data combined with ERA5 reanalysis—nearly identical to US data quality. Caribbean & Mexico stations feature 71% observation-based data, with the remainder using ERA5 reanalysis exclusively. US stations maintain the highest overall coverage at nearly 100% NOAA observational data with bias correction. Whether planning a wedding in Tuscany, a resort event in Cancún, or a conference in Chicago, you'll receive reliable 20-year climate insights backed by proven weather data sources.
Can I see station density on the map?
The coverage map shows our service areas with blue rectangles. Station density varies by region: US coastal areas and major cities have the highest density, while rural and mountainous areas have fewer stations. European coverage focuses on popular destination wedding locations like Tuscany, Provence, Barcelona, and the Croatian coast. When you use our Weather App, the system automatically selects the nearest station to your chosen location.
Do all regions include sunrise/sunset data?
Yes! All 4,500+ stations include comprehensive astronomical data: sunrise time, sunset time, solar noon, day length, and civil twilight times (dawn and dusk). This data is calculated using your specific location coordinates and timezone, providing accurate timing for outdoor ceremony planning and golden hour photography. Particularly valuable for destination weddings when you need to plan the perfect timing for an outdoor event.
